Meet Neil Smith MFHT

I am a fully qualified and insured Sports and Remedial Massage therapist and member of The Federation of Holistic Therapists (MFHT)

Having trained at Kendal College in Anatomy and Physiology, and Sports Massage Therapy I been working at Queen Street Consulting Rooms since 2015.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and follow the FHT’s strict code of conduct. Being a Member of the FHT means I am also listed on the largest register of complementary healthcare therapists, which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.

I work two evenings a week at Queen Street Consulting Rooms, helping a range of clients to move away from pain, discomfort and restricted movement.

Some of my clients are active in sport of one kind and another, in some cases to a high level, and receive help either to recover from an injury and get them back to full training, or to receive what are called maintenance treatments to deal with small issues before they become significant problems that would lead to injury or loss of performance.

Some clients come to me needing help to recover from other injuries or dysfunction, for example back pain or the after-effects of trauma such as a car accident.  Although these are not sporting in origin, the techniques of sports massage are equally useful in these circumstances this is where the term remedial massage is used.

Finally some clients have ongoing medical conditions, and use remedial massage therapy to ease the symptoms from their conditions, for example those with arthritis who may find that whilst the painful joint cannot be improved by massage, the pain of tight muscles that are trying to hold that joint stable can be eased.  Many of these clients report that the pain in their muscles is worse than the joint pain, and so real relief can come from massage.

“Neil is a true professional, he helped me when I was training for a half marathon.
I'm a part-time runner; not too serious and I never seem to have enough time, but a friend persuaded me to try a half marathon - quite a big jump in mileage for me. Thanks to some maintenance sports massage with Neil I found it much easier to train as I had much less stiffness. I enjoyed visiting the Queen Street Consulting Rooms - it's a very relaxed, friendly and chatty atmosphere.
Oh - and I was delighted with a sub-2 hr finish time. Huge thanks Neil.” - Susannah
