What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a hands-on treatment used to diagnose and treat all kinds of aches and pains in the body. Osteopathy looks at how different parts of the body; the bones, joints, ligaments, discs, muscles, tendons and nerves, all work together.
Each of these are interlinked and work together within your body, so if one area isn’t working properly it will have a knock on effect on other areas.
The aim of the treatment is to help the body to repair itself.
Osteopathy can help treat:
Back and neck pain
Repetitive strain injuries
What can I expect from a treatment?
Your Osteopath uses hands on treatments such as stretching of muscles, rhythmic movement, manipulation of the joints, gentle relaxation techniques and massage-like techniques to help your body restore normal functions to the areas causing the symptoms.
The overall aim of osteopathic treatment is to release areas of restriction, improve mobility and blood flow and to correct any imbalances.
You will also be given advice on how to prevent your problem recurring and you may be shown exercises to follow.
